  • Amyris Biotechnologies, a leading Bay Area biofuels and bio-products company, in negotiating a $25 million cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy in expanding its Emeryville, CA bio-refinery that uses sorghum to create renewable diesel.
  • National Renewable Energy Laboratory needed expert counsel to help develop a sophisticated web-based data base on Western U.S. geothermal development law and processes.  Mr. Herrick provided that assistance which resulted in the widely acclaimed "Geothermal Regulatory Roadmap." 
  • Solazyme Inc., a leading advanced biofuels concern out of California, in obtaining federal support and funding for algae-based transportation fuels and associated by-products.
  • Hannon Armstrong Capital, a Maryland-based energy investment banking concern, with various Department of Energy and federal government energy efficiency financings, including obtaining IRS approval of REIT financing for Hannon Armstrong Sustainable Infrastructure Capital Inc.
  • Honeywell UOP Division - led effort in obtaining a Defense Production Act award from the U.S. Navy to construct  the Natures BioReserve Biorefinery in S. Sioux City NE.   Assisted in obtaining DOE funding for a UOP carbon capture and use facility in Hopewell, VA.
  • OPX Biofuels Technology Inc., a leading Colorado technology firm, in obtaining funding from DOE's ARPA-E for its conversion of hydrogen and carbon dioxide into biodiesel fuel.
  • Signet Solar Inc. in a Department of Energy loan-guarantee transaction and project financing associated with its Sun Kachina PV production facility in Belen, New Mexico.
  • A defense industry developer of sophisticated information data retrieval technology in obtaining a major supply contract with the National Security Agency.
  • ZeaChem Inc., assisted this Colorado-based biofuels company in obtaining DOE, USDA and DoD funds for the construction of a commercial scale biorefinery in Oregon.
  • A major Midwestern utility with a renewable-energy generation subsidiary needed counsel to negotiate wind-farm project development documentation for wind farms in Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota.  Documented operations maintenance and supply agreements with vendors and contractors.  Assisted with analyses and negotiations regarding obtaining section 1603 cash grants from the Treasury.
  • Air Products Inc.,  Assisted Air Products in obtaining Advanced Renewable Energy Manufacturing Tax Credits for a number of its products.
